Police arrested 10 teenagers involved in a street brawl in Cipayung, Pancoran Mas, Depok. The ten youths were subsequently enrolled in an intensive Islamic programme (pesantren kilat) at the Depok Metro Police headquarters.

Depok Metro Police Public Relations Officer AKP Made Budi said the ten teenagers were apprehended on Saturday (21/2/2026) at 01:30 Western Indonesian Time on Jalan Rawasari 2, Cipayung, Depok. After being detained, they were immediately placed into the intensive programme.

"The pesantren kilat has already begun. The 10 students who were detained for brawling have been enrolled. The youths are directly participating in the programme at the Police Headquarters Mosque," Made told reporters on Sunday (22/2).

Made said the ten teenagers were registered in the presence of both their parents. They are also required to perform the five daily congregational prayers.

"We are re-registering the teenagers in the presence of their respective parents and supervising them in performing the five daily congregational prayers so they always remember Allah SWT," he said.

The Head of Community Development and the Community Guidance Unit provided counselling to the teenagers to prevent them from repeating their wrongful actions, urging them to value their futures and their parents' love.

"Chairman of the Al Ikhlas Mosque Committee AKP H Saimun and Aiptu Mulyasari provided guidance and counselling, and invited the children participating in the pesantren kilat to read the Quran," he explained.

Previously, the Depok Metro Police had announced plans to rehabilitate brawl perpetrators during Ramadan. The offenders would be enrolled in the intensive Islamic programme prepared by the Depok Metro Police.

"One of our key concerns is the issue of brawling. One of the steps we will take is to enrol the children involved in brawls into the pesantren kilat programme," said Depok Metro Police Chief Kombes Abdul Waras to reporters on Wednesday (18/2).

Abdul expressed hope that the pesantren kilat programme would reduce brawling in Depok. He noted that street brawls cause significant harm to the community and the surrounding environment.

"Essentially, we want to reduce the inclination of our young people to engage in brawling, because it is very harmful. If they persist and insist on brawling, we will enrol them in the pesantren kilat at the Depok Metro Police headquarters," he stressed.
