10 Students Sodomised, Pesantren Leader and Teacher in Bima Arrested

Pesantren leader RS (50) in Belo District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), is suspected of sodomising multiple students with the assistance of teacher SY. Both have been detained at Bima Police Headquarters, according to Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of Bima Police Residency’s Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Mahfuddin, on May 29, 2026.

Mahfuddin stated the case was uncovered following a public report, leading to the immediate detention of the two suspects identified as RS and SY. ‘RS is the pesantren leader and SY is a teacher at the institution,’ he added.

However, Mahfuddin could not provide further details on the alleged sexual abuse, stating the case is under investigation. ‘The case will be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the law,’ he emphasized.

The PPA Unit plans to involve a psychologist to support the victims during the case handling. ‘We are also focusing on the psychological recovery of the victims,’ Mahfuddin explained.

RS and SY were arrested and detained at Bima Police Headquarters since May 9, 2026, and are suspected of sodomising 10 students, mostly in Year 7 and Year 9.
