10 soldiers tried each month
DENPASAR, Bali: An average of 10 soldiers under the Udayana military command go on trial each month, commander Maj. Gen. Adang Ruchiatna said on Saturday.
The Udayana military chief oversees security in Bali, Nusa Tenggara and East Timor.
"It's only natural that ABRI (Indonesian Armed Forces) members should stand trial, because they are not above the law. They are ordinary people who can violate the laws," Adang told Antara.
He said that since he took charge of the Udayana command, about two years ago, 16 ABRI members serving under him, including several senior officers, had been expelled from military service. (imn)
