10 Schools Participate in MPR RI Drill and Flag Hoisting Competition in Sidrap, MPR Emphasises Discipline
Sidenreng Rappang Regency (Sidrap), South Sulawesi, hosted the 2026 South Sulawesi Provincial Level Drill and Flag Hoisting Competition (LKBB-PB) organised by the MPR RI. The event, held at the Sidrap Regency SKPD Complex Parade Ground on Saturday (23/5/2026), was attended by ten high schools and equivalent institutions from various regions across South Sulawesi, including SMAN 12 Luwu, SMAN 1 Jeneponto, SMAN 1 Maros, SMAN 1 Pangkep, SMAN 2 Sidenreng Rappang, SMAN 13 Bone, SMAN 7 Wajo, MAN 1 Parepare, SMAN 1 Tana Toraja, and SMAN 10 Gowa.
The event was officially opened by the Deputy of Administration for the MPR RI Secretariat General, Heri Herawan, S.H. In his address, Heri emphasised that the LKBB-PB is more than just a marching competition; it is a strategic effort by the MPR RI to reinforce national values among the youth. “Through this competition, the MPR RI seeks to strengthen the pillars of nationality and love for the homeland, while shaping the character of Indonesia’s younger generation to be disciplined, resilient, and virtuous—essential requirements for a democratic and civilised Indonesia,” Heri stated.
He further urged the participants not to become a generation that is apathetic towards the nation’s condition, noting that Indonesia’s future depends on the courage and care of today’s youth. He stressed that nationalism must be continuously nurtured and cannot be achieved instantly. He encouraged participants to use the competition as a momentum to learn discipline, hard work, and to harbour great ambitions for Indonesia’s future progress.
The Regional Secretary of Sidenreng Rappang, Andi Rahmat Saleh, expressed his appreciation to the MPR RI Secretariat General for organising the event, which he described as being rich in educational and nationalistic values. He noted that the training involved in drilling and flag hoisting builds not only physical ability but also mental fortitude and leadership qualities. He added that such activities are highly relevant in facing the challenges of globalisation and technological advancement.
This provincial competition serves as a selection process to determine the representative for South Sulawesi in the national-level competition for the 2026 Constitution Day celebrations, which will be held at the MPR RI Building in Jakarta this August. The local government expressed hope that the selected winners would represent South Sulawesi with pride on the national stage.
