10 Regional Heads Caught in KPK Sting Operations up to July 2026, Here is the List!
As of 19 July 2026, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has recorded the arrest of ten regional heads in a series of sting operations (OTT). The list consists of nine regents and one mayor, with the Regent of Sukoharjo, Etik Suryani, being the latest regional head to become entangled in the legal proceedings.
Based on compiled data, the operation in Sukoharjo on 9-10 July 2026 was the KPK’s 16th sting operation this year. Etik Suryani is suspected of involvement in extortion through a 40 per cent deduction of tax incentives for BPKAD employees, as well as routine payments from regional apparatus organisations. During the operation, the KPK seized evidence in the form of cash and 25 gold bars with a total value reaching Rp21.2 billion.
Geographically, Central Java has the highest concentration of cases, with four of its regional heads (Pati, Pekalongan, Cilacap, and Sukoharjo) holding suspect status. The dominant pattern of corruption throughout the year has been extortion of subordinates or private parties, followed by the buying and selling of positions and project mark-ups.
Editor’s Note: All the names mentioned above are currently suspects in cases being processed by the KPK. The principle of presumption of innocence applies until a legally binding court decision is reached.
