10 officials to be dismissed over KKN
JAKARTA: Minister of Home Affairs Syarwan Hamid said nine regents and one mayor would be dismissed before their terms end because of their involvement in corruption, collusion and nepotism.
The dismissed officials included five members of the Armed Forces (ABRI), Antara reported Tuesday. The dismissed ABRI members included the regent of Bantul, Yogyakarta, a colonel identified as SRS who had been implicated in the still unsolved murder of journalist Fuad Muhammad Syafruddin, or Udin.
Udin's death is believed to be related to his reports on corruption in the regency.
Other regents to be dismissed were the regents of Langkat in North Sumatra, Maros in South Sulawesi, Belitung in South Sulawesi, Kotawaringin Barat in Central Kalimantan, Nabire in Irian Jaya, Ainaro in East Timor, Tegal in Central Java and Pinrang in South Sulawesi.
The mayor who will be dismissed is from the town of Tegal.
Syarwan said provincial prosecutors were also investigating several other regents and mayors. (anr)
