10 New Indonesian Toll Roads to Operate Functionally for 2026/2027 Christmas and New Year Holidays
The Ministry of Public Works is targeting approximately ten new toll road sections to be opened functionally on a temporary basis during the 2026 Christmas and 2027 New Year holiday period. All of these sections are projected to complete construction by the end of 2026, allowing them to be used to help facilitate public mobility during the peak holiday travel season.
Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), Ni Komang Rasminiati, explained that the functional operation plan was drawn up based on the ongoing development progress of toll roads in various regions across Indonesia.
“In accordance with the construction progress, there is currently a plan for around ten sections. The hope is that they can be completed by the end of 2026. These can then be made functional to support traffic movement during the Christmas and New Year period,” Komang stated recently, as quoted on Sunday (28/6/2026).
She noted that a number of sections with the potential to be opened functionally are spread across the islands of Sumatra and Java. One of these is the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road Section 1 (Padang Tiji-Seulimeum), which forms part of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road network.
“One of them is the Sigli-Banda Aceh section, Section 1. Then also the Palembang-Betung Section 1 from Keramasan to Pulau Rimau,” she said.
Additionally, the BPJT is also targeting the completion of several strategic toll road sections in East Java and West Java. These include the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road Section 3 Paiton-Besuki, and the South Jakarta-Cikampek II Toll Road Section 6 Kutanegara-Sadang.
“Then the section in East Java, the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi. This is Section 3 from Paiton to Besuki. Then the South Jakarta-Cikampek II section, Section 6 Kutanegara-Sadang,” she continued.
She emphasised that the government will continue to tighten supervision of the construction progress so that the target for completion by the end of 2026 can be achieved.
