10 killed by lightning

MAUMERE, East Nusa Tenggara: A thunderbolt killed 10 Waebubak
villagers in Manggarai who were playing volleyball during a heavy
rainstorm.

According to eyewitnesses, the victims, along with two
survivors, were playing volleyball in a local field last
Thursday, when the bright sky suddenly turned cloudy.

A few minutes later the whole village was inundated by the
sudden rainstorm.

Unfortunately, none of the players were willing to stop the
game and they were struck by the lightning.

The village is about 230 kilometers west of here. (yac/bsr)
