10 Indonesians in 'Join The Team 2002'

JAKARTA: Seventy-five Indonesian adventure enthusiasts are competing at the Baluran National Park in Banyuwangi, East Java, for 10 spots on the Marlboro Adventure Team "Join The Team 2002" event to be held at the Moab wilderness in Utah, the United States, from Sept. 29 through Oct. 11 this year.

The three-day selection process, which will end today, covers a wide range of adventure sports, including off-road driving, motocross and water activities, the organizing committee said on Friday.

The first day of the selection on Thursday included Jeep off road, motocross, mountain hiking and obstacle cycling during the day and "flying fox", rock climbing and several other land activities in the evening.

On Friday, the participants had to complete an orienteering course, do some skin diving, some rowing and rappelling.

On the final day, they will compete in a mini triathlon of sorts comprised of bamboo rafting, a swim and a 10-kilometer run. --JP
