10 illegal parking attendants apprehended in Cengkareng
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A joint task force apprehended ten illegal parking attendants at several intersections and U-turns in the Cengkareng area, West Jakarta, on Monday.
The Head of West Jakarta’s Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Herry Purnama, stated that the enforcement activity was carried out to ensure public safety and order, in accordance with Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2007 concerning public order.
“I and my team, along with other relevant agencies, are enforcing local regulations by patrolling several locations prone to individuals in need of social welfare services (PPKS). We are taking enforcement action,” said Herry when confirmed in Jakarta on Monday.
Herry explained that the locations surveyed included Jalan Daan Mogot, specifically at the immigration U-turn in West Cengkareng, and the Jambur Duri Kosambi intersection on Jalan Kosambi Raya.
“From those two locations, we caught three illegal parking attendants at the immigration U-turn, and three at the Jambur Duri Kosambi intersection,” he said.
In addition to those two locations, authorities also detained four other parking attendants operating at several points on Jalan Palapa Raya, Rawa Buaya Village. All apprehended individuals were taken by officers to the Kedoya Social Shelter.
“They will subsequently undergo guidance at the shelter,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Cengkareng District Satpol PP, Sukarlan, explained that the enforcement activity involving PPKS involved 85 joint officers from the Satpol PP, the Social Affairs Department, the Transportation Department, and the police.
Sukarlan added that this crackdown was a follow-up to resident reports regarding illegal parking activities in several Cengkareng locations that had been causing public concern.
“Following this enforcement, we will conduct regular patrols and supervision to ensure that the cleared locations no longer host illegal parking attendants that disturb the peace,” he concluded.
