10 gas stations to be removed
JAKARTA (JP): The South Jakarta mayoralty has set the end of
1997 as the deadline for ten owners to move their gas stations
built on park areas to different locations.
"The deadline was set in line with Jakarta Governor's
instructions to return the city's park areas to their original
function," said H.M. Mustari, assistant for the mayoralty's
economy, development and welfare affairs office.
The gas stations to be removed include those built on Jl.
Pakubuwono II, Jl. Melawai Raya I, Jl. Mataram II, Jl.Kebalen
Senopati I, Jl. Lapangan Ros II Jl. Tebet I and Jl. Raya
Sudirman.
Mustari was quoted by Antara as saying that the function of
many park areas in South Jakarta has been changed into other
purposes such as markets and residential sites.
Several plots of park lands have changed hands so many times
that many occupants presently do not realize that their housing
sites have actually been designated by the city administration
only for park areas, Mustari said.
The altered park areas are located in Pondok Labu (covering
2,500 square meters), Tebet Dalam VIII (3,000 M2), Panglima Polim
II (1,500 M2), Perdapa Tebet Barat (980 M2), Taman Puring (5,400
M2) and Taman Cisanggiri (3,000 M2). (hhr)
