10 Chinese Nationals Deported for Misusing Visit Visas to Work as Construction Labourers

The Class I TPI North Jakarta Immigration Office has deported 10 Chinese nationals suspected of misusing visit visas to work as construction labourers in the Pluit Karang Sari area, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. The ten foreign nationals were also subjected to a ban on re-entry after being found to have violated immigration regulations based on the results of an investigation.

Head of the Class I TPI North Jakarta Immigration Office, Rendra Mauliansyah, stated that the enforcement action was taken after officers received a public report regarding suspected immigration violations by foreign nationals in the area.

Rendra explained that a surveillance operation conducted on 15 July 2026 discovered 10 Chinese nationals who had entered Indonesia using Visit Visas (C2) but were suspected of working as construction labourers. Some of the foreign nationals were tasked with assembling iron and building pillars, whilst others were cutting wood and iron for the building’s main frame.

According to Rendra, based on the results of the examination, the ten foreign nationals are suspected of violating Article 122 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration. “The 10 foreign nationals have been subjected to Immigration Administrative Actions in the form of detention at the Detention Room of the Class I TPI North Jakarta Immigration Office,” Rendra stated in a written release.

Subsequently, on 17 July 2026, the Class I TPI North Jakarta Immigration Office imposed immigration administrative actions in the form of deportation and inclusion on the blacklist in accordance with Article 75 paragraph (2) letters a and f of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration. The 10 Chinese nationals were then repatriated to their country of origin via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport using Spring Airlines on a Jakarta-Guangzhou route. The deportation process was carried out under the escort of officers from the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Section of the Class I TPI North Jakarta Immigration Office.
