Residents of Kotawaringin Timur Regency (Kotim), Central Kalimantan, are set to receive a community aid animal—a one-ton Limousin cow named ‘Rambo’—donated by President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 AH. The cow, weighing almost a tonne, will be delivered to the Islamic Center Sampit.

The owner of a local farm in Sampit, Syarif, said that this year he was once again trusted by the presidential administration to supply the best sacrificial animal for the community. The distribution forms part of President Prabowo Subianto’s community aid programme in Kalimantan Tengah.

“Alhamdulillah, this is the second year I have been entrusted to supply a cow for the President of the Republic of Indonesia. For Eid al-Adha this year, the cow from Mr President Prabowo Subianto is planned to be channelled to Masjid Islamic Center Sampit,” Syarif said in Sampit on Thursday (21 May 2026).

Syarif explained that the standards set by the President’s government remain very strict, particularly regarding weight and animal health. This was evident from the selection process in neighbouring Seruyan, where the process had to be repeated because the animals did not meet the presidential criteria.

“According to reports, the cow in Pembuang Hulu (Seruyan) had not reached the ideal weight above 900 kilograms as a mandatory condition for a cow from the President, so we were asked to provide a replacement animal. This shows that Mr President Prabowo cares greatly about the quality of the aid provided to the community,” he said.

The ‘Rambo’ cow selected is a Limousin with a sturdy frame and high tonnage. Among farmers, premium quality cattle have market values in Rupiah of around Rp85 million to Rp90 million.

Head of the Livestock and Animal Health Section of the Kotim Agriculture and Food Security Agency, Endrayatno, confirmed that the President’s cow for Kotim this year comprises one animal and has undergone very strict health screening.

“That is the standard from Mr President: its health status, complete vaccination, and clinical checks up to laboratory testing. We must ensure that this cow is truly fit and healthy before it is handed over to the Eid al-Adha committee at Wahyu Al-Hadi Mosque,” Endrayatno said.

He also added that choosing a locally bred (F1/F2) cow is a prudent move because such animals are more adaptable to tropical climates and have a calmer temperament than pure imported cattle, making the slaughter process easier later. (Ant/I-1)
