1.9 Million Return Journey Vehicles Have Already Returned to Jakarta
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Head of the National Traffic Police, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, stated that 58 percent of return journey vehicles have returned to Jakarta as of Wednesday (25/3/2026). This figure serves as an indicator that the return traffic movement is beginning to level off on several sections of the Trans-Java Toll Road.
He revealed that the total number of vehicles that have entered Jakarta reaches approximately 1.958 million units. The remaining return traffic is estimated to still amount to 1.4 million vehicles that will move until the end of the Operasi Ketupat period.
“If we look at it up to now, it’s almost 58 percent. So, 1.958 million, and the remainder is 1.4,” said Agus at the Integrated Post in Sukoharjo, Central Java, on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
He explained that from the remaining vehicles, around 250,000 vehicles are the focus of management in the final phase of the return flow. Vehicle movement is estimated to continue until 29 March 2026.
Agus stated that the current traffic conditions are relatively under control. The peak of the return flow is said to have been passed, with the highest volume reaching 256,338 vehicles, exceeding the achievement in the same period last year.
“And earlier at 10 a.m., we evaluated with Mr. Dirgakkum, with the main officials of the National Traffic Police and the Kamseltibcarlantas Task Force, the traffic conditions are starting to level off. So, it’s quite controlled,” he said.
The National Traffic Police is also making gradual adjustments to traffic engineering. The national one-way system on the KM 414 to KM 263 section has been lifted, and that section has been reopened to normal two-way traffic.
Traffic arrangements remain focused on crucial sections leading to Jakarta. Local one-way is still in effect from KM 263 to KM 70 to maintain vehicle distribution and prevent accumulation at downstream points.
