1.8 Million Vehicles Pass Through Cipali Toll Road During Eid 2026

As many as 1.8 million vehicles crossed the Cikopo-Palimanan Toll Road (Cipali Toll) during the implementation of the Eid homecoming and return traffic in 2026. “The total is around 1.8 million vehicles that passed through the Cipali Toll section during the 2026 Eid holiday,” said Astra Tol Cipali’s Operations Director Novianto Dwi Wibowo on Tuesday, 31 March 2026. Novianto continued that the figure counts from 13 March to 29 March 2026, or from H-8 to H+7 of Eid 2026. The peak homecoming traffic on the Cipali Toll occurred on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, with around 141,000 vehicles passing through. The peak return traffic happened on H+2 Eid, or Tuesday, 24 March 2026, with 135,000 vehicles passing through. To ensure smooth traffic flow, following police discretion, traffic engineering in the form of one-way operation was implemented on the Cipali Toll section for homecoming traffic from 17 March to 20 March 2026 and for return traffic on 23 March to 25 March 2026. One-way operation was then repeated for the return traffic period from 27 March to 29 March 2026, as well as contraflow at KM 169-162 on 26 March 2026. In support of the government’s efforts to distribute traffic volume, Cipali Toll also applied a 30 percent toll discount on 18-19 and 26-27 March 2026. The toll discount was positively received by homecomers. “In addition, a situational open-close system was implemented at all rest areas during the homecoming and return Eid traffic,” said Novianto. Previously, Novianto added, Astra Tol Cipali had also improved services at rest areas, starting from adding parking and toilet capacity, preparing fuel stations and EV charging stations, adding tow truck fleets, and preparing patrol services, ambulances, rescue, to a 24-hour active call centre to serve road users. Furthermore, to support the government’s “Mudik Minim Sampah” programme, Astra Tol Cipali increased the capacity for waste sorting and processing at every rest area, so that the 2026 homecoming and return Eid activities would not have a negative environmental impact. “During homecoming, socialisation of waste sorting was also carried out for road users resting at rest areas,” said Novianto. Novianto also added that thanks to good collaboration between Astra Tol Cipali and the National Traffic Police Corps, the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Public Works, and all related agencies, this year’s homecoming and return traffic management could run safely, comfortably, and under control. “We greatly appreciate the very good cooperation and collaboration from the police and all related agencies during this year’s homecoming and return implementation,” said Novianto.
