A total of 1,759 part-time Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) under the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Government have received an additional incentive of Rp 500,000. The incentive was granted during the commemoration of National Education Day (Hardiknas) 2026.

Adiawan, one of the teachers receiving the additional Rp 500,000 monthly incentive, appeared delighted. The additional incentive is given to high school (SMA), vocational high school (SMK), and special needs school (SLB) teachers in NTB.

“We hope for a decent salary for the welfare of teachers in NTB, especially part-time PPPK teachers. Because our salaries depend on the region’s capabilities,” said Adi after the Hardiknas commemoration roll call at the NTB Education, Youth, and Sports Office, on Saturday (2/5/2026).

Adi revealed that the average salary for part-time PPPK teachers in NTB is still below the provincial minimum wage (UMP). He stated that the income for part-time PPPK teachers in NTB is not uniform, depending on the number of teaching hours.

“For me, the salary I receive is around Rp 1.2 million. The calculation is Rp 40,000 per hour,” added the English teacher at SMKN 1 Batulayar.

Adi hopes the government can further improve the welfare of educators. According to Adi, the salaries received by teachers so far are far from sufficient to survive a month.

NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal stated that the disbursement of the Rp 500,000 incentive to part-time PPPK teachers will begin in September 2026. Iqbal promised to strive to improve the welfare of teachers in NTB.

“We are also trying to find ways to increase teacher welfare. We must not let anyone earn Rp 40,000 per month,” said Iqbal.

In addition to preparing incentives for thousands of part-time PPPK teachers, Iqbal also ensured that the school learning system and methods are of increasing quality. According to him, the additional income for part-time PPPK teachers can be considered for increase if NTB’s fiscal burden improves.

“Every teacher will later receive at least Rp 500,000 per month. Plus their teaching hours. So at minimum, SMA, SMK, and SLB teachers will have higher incomes,” he concluded.
