1,738 Nutrition Service Units Suspended Until 12 May 2026 to Improve MBG Quality
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, stated that 1,738 Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) units have been suspended until 12 May 2026 to improve the quality of the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) programme. “Based on data as of 12 May 2026, there are 1,738 SPPG units that have been temporarily suspended because they do not meet standards. In addition, the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is operating the SAGI 127 call centre as a public complaint channel,” he said during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday. He emphasised that strengthening the supervision and accountability of SPPG units continues to be carried out by BGN, which has conducted ongoing inspections as a form of oversight for the governance of MBG distribution. Throughout 2026, a total of 3,615 complaints were recorded at the SAGI 127 call centre. The government is committed to regularly improving this governance to the public as a demonstration of accountability for the state-funded programme. Qodari continued that improvements to MBG governance are also accompanied by positive impacts of the programme that are beginning to be felt by society, from economic growth to the majority of households agreeing with the national nutrition enhancement programme. In addition, there have been periodic improvements in menu quality and taste. During the period from January to October 2025, 85.6 per cent of MBG suppliers recorded an increase in sales value. Furthermore, the majority of MBG recipient households stated their agreement with the programme’s benefits, with approval rates increasing from July to November 2025 across all surveyed aspects. “Such as increasing the ease of obtaining nutritious food, rising from 81.4 per cent to 84.1 per cent, as well as improving nutritious eating behaviour, from 80.3 per cent to 84.1 per cent. In addition, easing the burden of time spent preparing lunch, from 75.4 per cent to 78.3 per cent,” he explained. Furthermore, Qodari added, MBG also alleviates daily expenses, from 73.6 per cent to 75.9 per cent.
