1,700 SPPG Units Suspended, NasDem's Irma Highlights 'Games' Played by BGN Coordinators

Member of the House of Representatives Commission IX, Irma Suryani Chaniago, supports the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) implementing suspensions against around 1,700 SPPG or MBG kitchens that reduce benefits. However, Irma also urges BGN to dismiss the regional coordinators who play games with SPPG.

“I agree and support BGN suspending SPPG that reduce benefits; not only that, I also support BGN suspending SPPG that do not have wastewater treatment facilities (IPAL) and do not meet standards,” said Irma when contacted on Saturday (25/4/2026).

Irma also requests that BGN dismiss its regional coordinators who tamper with SPPG. According to her, these coordinators protect substandard SPPG.

“I ask BGN to terminate the BGN regional coordinators who tamper with SPPG and protect substandard SPPG but want bribes from them,” she stated.

Irma emphasised that such coordinators are widespread in the field. According to her, they are the root cause of non-standard SPPG continuing to operate in producing MBG.

“Coordinators like this are many, and I ask BGN not only to sanction but to dismiss them if they collude with non-standard SPPG that lack IPAL and reduce benefits,” she explained.

She believes there are still many SPPG that meet standards. However, she also mentioned there are naughty SPPG that do not meet standards.

“The question is, why can the naughty and non-standard ones operate? Because they collude with their coordinators. Simple, isn’t it? Therefore, I appreciate BGN which is starting to improve and suspending those naughty SPPG,” she said.

Head of the Development Control and Special Investigations Agency (Bappisus), Aris Marsudiyanto, revealed that around 1,700 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) have been temporarily halted. This step was taken after discovering portion reductions in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.

“Yes, if I’m not mistaken, there are around 1,700 SPPG that have been suspended by BGN for improvement. This is a form of BGN’s seriousness in managing SPPG with quality, in line with the established standardisation specifications,” said Aris Marsudiyanto to reporters at the APPMBGI National Summit in East Jakarta on Saturday (25/4).
