Police have revealed a case involving the theft of thousands of ompreng trays for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme at a Nutrition Service Fulfilment Unit (SPPG) in the Ciputat area of South Tangerang. Ironically, one of the perpetrators was a security guard at the facility.

Ciputat Timur Police Chief Kompol Bambang Askar Sodiq stated that there were four perpetrators. Three have been arrested, identified by the initials TRS, also known as Cangkim (50), who was the security guard at the SPPG kitchen; GZ, also known as Elub (36); and DK, also known as Ole (32).

‘The victim is the SPPG kitchen which was about to operate. The perpetrator is the security guard of the SPPG who conspired with his friends,’ Bambang said in a statement on Wednesday.

The theft occurred at the SPPG Ciputat 07 kitchen on Jalan RE Martadinata, Ciputat Village, Ciputat District, South Tangerang, on Wednesday, 8 July. The case was reported by the SPPG kitchen management to the police.

‘The report is of aggravated theft with losses including 1,700 trays (ompreng),’ Bambang said. In addition, the perpetrators stole two stoves, one blender, one printer, one generator set, a power box and CCTV recorder, as well as a gate key and keys to rooms belonging to the Dunia Berkah Mandiri Foundation.

The Ciputat Timur Police operations team, led by Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Akhmad Kholil Effendi, processed the crime scene. The investigation yielded information that the ompreng trays were being offered to someone.

‘The team received information that the ompreng were being offered by an individual with the initials DH, also known as Bucek,’ he revealed. Based on this information, police obtained leads that eventually uncovered the involvement of the SPPG kitchen security guard named Cangkim.

‘Initially, Cangkim remained silent, but eventually he confessed to taking the items from the SPPG with the help of his friends, namely GZ alias Elub, DK alias Ole, and H,’ he explained. Two of Cangkim’s accomplices, Elub and Ole, have been arrested. Meanwhile, suspect H is still being pursued by the police.
