1,686 Personnel Deployed to Secure Rally Supporting Free Nutritious Meals Programme in Central Jakarta
A total of 1,686 joint police personnel from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Metro Resort Police, and sector police stations have been placed on standby to secure a rally supporting the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in the Central Jakarta area on Wednesday. Head of Public Relations for the Central Jakarta Metro Resort Police, First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, stated that the rally was organised by the Presidium of Volunteers and Sympathisers Supporting MBG along with several other groups. “Security measures are in place for the demonstration by the Presidium of Volunteers and Sympathisers Supporting MBG and several other elements in the Gambir area, with the activity planned for 9:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time,” Erlyn said in a written statement on Wednesday. Meanwhile, traffic diversions at the protest site will be implemented situationally, taking into account the number of participants on the ground. The public has also been urged to avoid the area around the demonstration site to anticipate traffic congestion.
