As many as 1,639 inmates (napi) in Bali are receiving remission to mark Eid al-Fitr 2026. This was conveyed by the Head of the Bali Provincial Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Decky Nurmansyah, on Saturday (21/3/2026). He explained that initially, 1,671 inmates were proposed for remission ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026.

“From the proposed number, the Bali Kanwil IMIPAS only realised 1,639 people. This number already includes one juvenile offender who also received remission,” he stated. This total consists of 1,535 male inmates and the remainder female inmates.

He explained that in addition to Indonesian national (WNI) inmates, there are also foreign national (WNA) inmates spread across all prisons in Bali who received remission. For the category of WNA inmates, the number receiving remission is 15 people, consisting of 14 males and one female.

In addition to Eid al-Fitr remission, there is also a proposal for Nyepi remission for inmates who are Hindu in Bali. For Nyepi remission, the proposed number is 1,090 people. From this proposed number, only 1,089 were realised, including six juvenile offenders within that figure. Additionally, there is a special Nyepi remission proposal for WNA, where there are six male inmates proposed and all have been realised.

Currently, the total number of wards spread across all prisons in Bali is recorded at 4,654 people. This figure consists of 3,623 people who are convicts and 1,031 who are still detainees.
