1,600 Unlicensed Accommodations to Be Removed from OTA Platforms by 1 August 2026
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Around 1,600 unlicensed accommodations or lodging facilities are at risk of being removed from Online Travel Agent (OTA) platforms by early August 2026, specifically on Saturday, 1 August 2026.
Consequently, these thousands of accommodations will no longer be available on OTA platforms such as tiket.com, Traveloka, Agoda, Trip.com, and Airbnb.
“On 1 August, we will send the list to each OTA to commence delisting, but if they obtain their permits within two months, the number could be reduced,” he added.
For tourists who have already booked unlicensed accommodations on OTA platforms, Widiyanti advises contacting their respective OTAs.
“They should check with each online travel agent, as each has its own policy,” she suggested.
Among all categories, villa accommodations recorded the highest growth, with a 76.4% increase.
Previously, the Ministry of Tourism has collaborated with OTAs and local governments to conduct accommodation permit data collection since March 2025.
The collaboration includes awareness campaigns on permit requirements, distribution of business registration forms, and a target that all tourism accommodations marketed via OTAs must have permits by Sunday, 30 June 2026.
Accommodation providers or merchants who believe they have met permit requirements or are still in the verification process can submit complaints or objections until July 2026.
This system will ensure all accommodations marketed through digital platforms obtain a Business Permit (Perizinan Berusaha).
