1.53 Million Passengers Fly Over Eid Holiday in First Three Days
Jakarta — Indonesia’s airspace experienced early congestion as the Eid holiday travel period commenced. In just the first three days of the Eid transport operations (13-15 March 2026), PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) recorded the movement of 1.53 million passengers across 37 airports under its management.
This figure surged 14 per cent compared to the same period last year, confirming that public demand for air travel remained exceptionally high.
Alongside crowded terminals, flight frequency also increased by 9.5 per cent, with a total of 11,321 aircraft movements.
InJourney Airports played a crucial role by cutting the Airport Service Charge for Passengers (PJP2U) by 50 per cent. Since this airport component cost is embedded in ticket prices, the reduction automatically provided immediate relief on the nominal ticket prices paid by prospective passengers.
InJourney Airports Chief Executive Officer Mohammad R. Pahlevi stated that the surge in domestic flights was the result of a combination of tradition and affordable pricing.
The primary focus remained on Soekarno-Hatta Airport as the nation’s busiest hub.
On Monday (16 March 2026), Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi conducted a surprise inspection at Terminal 1C and Terminal 2D. Accompanied by InJourney’s management team, the minister directly interacted with holiday travellers to ensure service standards did not falter amid the surge in passenger numbers.
Managing 9 million people in a short timeframe was no simple matter. InJourney’s strategy focused on flexible flight capacity (slot time) and passenger flow management in terminal areas.
“Close collaboration with stakeholders is key for InJourney Airports to ensure flight capacity availability and manage the increase in passenger numbers effectively,” Pahlevi added.
