1,525 PPPK Teachers in North Jakarta Sign Contract Extensions
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 1,525 teachers holding Government Employee with Work Agreements (PPPK) status within the North Jakarta City and Thousand Islands Regency administrations have signed contract extensions for a period of three years at the Yos Sudarso Building, North Jakarta Mayor’s Office.
“The contract signing process was conducted in three sessions, with each session attended by 225 participants, held from 1 to 2 July 2026,” said North Jakarta Deputy Mayor Fredy Setiawan in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He expressed appreciation for all PPPK teachers who have demonstrated dedication and optimal performance over the past three years. According to Fredy, this contract extension serves as a form of trust and motivation for teachers to continue making their best contributions to the education sector.
He also thanked all teachers who have successfully completed their three-year service period. “Keep working, developing yourselves, never lose heart, and continue to serve wholeheartedly,” he said.
Fredy also expressed hope that teachers would continue to uphold integrity, discipline, and responsibility in carrying out their duties as educators. He prayed that the teachers would have opportunities to continue developing and achieve better career paths in the future.
“We hope today marks a new step to keep moving forward and to firmly uphold discipline, responsibility, and dedication at work. Hopefully, more opportunities can be achieved in the future,” he stated.
He urged all participants to follow the contract signing process as it directly relates to the continuity of their employment status. The contract extension is valid for three years; however, if an employee reaches a certain age limit, their term of service will end in accordance with applicable regulations.
One teacher from SMP Negeri 55 Jakarta, Tuti Handayani, expressed gratitude that the contract extension process was straightforward and did not cause difficulties for teachers. She hopes the government will provide clearer career progression for PPPK teachers in the future. “I hope there will be a policy that gives PPPK the opportunity to become PNS so we can serve with greater peace of mind,” she said.
Tuti also recounted her long journey as an educator. Before becoming a PPPK, she had taught for decades, even teaching at several schools simultaneously for very limited honorariums. “I have been teaching for a long time. I once received an honorarium of Rp250,000 while studying and teaching at several schools. I did it all sincerely for the sake of service and love for the world of education. Alhamdulillah, I finally became a PPPK,” she said.
