1,515 Baduy Villagers Walk 40 Km to Lebak Regent's Office Carrying Agricultural Produce
A total of 1,515 Baduy villagers took part in the Seba Baduy event. For the Baduy indigenous community, Seba is an annual tradition that is routinely observed. In addition to those from Baduy Luar, 35 representatives from Baduy Dalam from three villages also joined the event. They covered a distance of approximately 40 kilometres on foot to reach the Lebak Regent’s office. “We departed from Ciboleger Terminal around 3:00 AM Western Indonesia Time, covering about 40 kilometres on foot,” said Renaldi, a resident of Baduy Dalam, at the Lebak Regent’s office on Friday (24/4/2026). The Baduy villagers have now arrived at the Lebak Regent’s office, dressed in their traditional attire. They brought various agricultural produce to be handed over to the Lebak Regency Government. “We are bringing agricultural produce,” said Renaldi. Renaldi stated that Seba is an ancestral heritage that continues to be preserved and maintained by the Baduy indigenous community to this day. During this Seba, they will meet with the Lebak Regent and Deputy Regent, as well as the Banten Governor, referred to as Bapak Gede. “It has been mandatory since ancient times, while also maintaining ties with Bapak Gede,” he said. The Seba Baduy celebration is being held in Lebak Regency and Serang City. After Lebak, the Baduy Dalam villagers will walk back to the Banten Governor’s office. Banten Provincial Secretary, Deden Apriandhi Hartawan, mentioned that ambassadors from friendly countries will attend the Seba Baduy celebration in Serang City. The ambassadors scheduled to attend are from Belarus, Iran, Palestine, Bosnia, Syria, and Russia. Meanwhile, other ambassadors are still awaiting confirmation as of 23 April 2026. “There are ambassadors who have confirmed they will attend the Seba Baduy event on 25 April,” said Deden.
