1,461 Disaster Response Units Deployed During 2026 Eid Exodus Period
Jakarta – The Indonesian government has identified thousands of hazard-prone points across national road networks ahead of the 2026 Eid exodus period. This mapping exercise has been conducted to anticipate travel disruptions that could arise from weather factors and geographical conditions.
Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo stated that the mapping exercise represents an important component of the risk mitigation strategy during the exodus and return travel periods.
“The Public Works Ministry has mapped various hazard-prone points on the national road network to ensure preparedness for the increased mobility of the public,” Hanggodo said during a meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
Various potential travel disruptions have been identified well in advance to enable faster response when problems occur in the field.
“We have mapped approximately 591 flood-prone points, 1,277 landslide-prone points, 15 tidal flood-prone points, 249 congestion hotspots, and 187 accident-prone points,” said Hanggodo.
These points are distributed across various regions that serve as main travel routes for people during the Eid exodus.
To address these potential disruptions, the government has prepared various emergency response resources in the field.
“To support field response operations, the Public Works Ministry has prepared approximately 1,461 Disaster Relief Units that can be mobilised at any time,” he said.
In addition, the government has also activated coordination posts tasked with monitoring infrastructure conditions and responding to potential hydrometeorological disasters.
“We have prepared approximately 496 integrated exodus coordination posts distributed across various regions of Indonesia from H-10 through to H+10 Eid,” said Hanggodo.
These posts will be staffed by various technical units tasked with ensuring road conditions remain safe for public use. Personnel readiness and equipment availability at hazard-prone points represent a critical factor in ensuring smooth exodus travel.
“At these very points, personnel readiness and equipment availability become crucial determinants for ensuring disruptions can be addressed immediately,” said Hanggodo.
With this mapping exercise, the government hopes to reduce potential travel obstacles from the outset.
“We hope all these efforts will make people’s exodus journey safer and smoother,” he added.
