Jakarta (ANTARA) — A total of 1,436 combined personnel are ready to secure a protest organised by the Alliance of Students and Civil Society in the South area of Monas, Gambir, Central Jakarta, on Friday. A total of 1,436 combined personnel from Polda Metro Jaya, Metro Jakarta Pusat Police, and the relevant Polsek stations have been deployed to provide services so that the activity of expressing opinions in public proceeds safely, orderly, and conducive, said Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief, Kombes Pol Reynold EP Hutagalung, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday. He explained that the police have conducted a Tactical Wall Game (TWG) and a readiness drill at 08:00 WIB. ‘As a precautionary measure and to map potential dynamics of the crowd on the ground, all personnel have been directed to prioritise a persuasive, dialogic, and humane approach,’ said Reynold. He noted that all security personnel will not be armed and will prioritise a humane and professional approach. ‘We are here to serve our fellow citizens who are voicing their opinions. Personnel on the ground are not carrying firearms and have been ordered to always prioritise a humane, persuasive, and professional attitude,’ Reynold said. Reynold also stressed that the demonstrators should not confront officers and should collectively maintain order. Additionally, residents around the Monas area are urged not to be provoked. For road users, the police advised seeking alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion during the protest. ‘Traffic control will be situational and will be adjusted according to the escalation in the number of people on the ground. We ask for the cooperation of all parties so that the activity proceeds safely, orderly, and conducive,’ Reynold said.
