The 2026 Eid al-Fitr exodus has shown a significant surge. Up to H-3 before Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri, a total of 1.4 million vehicles have left the Jabodetabek region.

PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk’s President Director, Rivan A. Purwantono, revealed that the outbound traffic volume from Jabodetabek during the H-10 to H-3 Eid period, or 11–18 March 2026, reached 1,483,703 vehicles.

“That figure is the cumulative traffic flow from four main toll gates,” Rivan stated in a written release on Friday, 20 March 2026.

The four toll gates in question are GT Cikampek Utama (towards Trans Java), GT Kalihurip Utama (towards Bandung), GT Cikupa (towards Merak), and GT Ciawi (towards Puncak). Overall, this vehicle volume increased by 30.1% compared to normal traffic of 1,140,021 vehicles.

Rivan added that the 1.4 million vehicles equate to 42% of the total projected 3.5 million vehicles expected to leave Jakarta during the exodus period from 11–31 March 2026.

In terms of distribution, the majority of vehicles headed east. A total of 788,710 vehicles, or 53.1%, went towards Trans Java and Bandung. Meanwhile, 402,945 vehicles (27.2%) headed to Merak, and 292,048 vehicles (19.7%) towards the Puncak area.

For the eastern direction, vehicles heading to Trans Java via GT Cikampek Utama totalled 523,223 units, a 132.4% jump from normal conditions. Those heading to Bandung via GT Kalihurip Utama reached 265,487 vehicles, up 6.8% from normal traffic.

In total, the flow towards Trans Java and Bandung reached 788,710 vehicles, an increase of 66.5%.

Meanwhile, the westward flow via GT Cikupa to Merak recorded 402,945 vehicles, up 4.7%. Vehicles heading to Puncak via GT Ciawi reached 292,048 units, an increase of 3.8%.

At the peak of the exodus on H-3 Eid, Wednesday, 18 March 2026, the outbound vehicle volume from Jabodetabek hit 270,315 units. This figure surged 98.3% from normal traffic of 136,326 vehicles and rose 4.62% from last year’s peak of 258,383 vehicles.

“That number is the highest for outbound traffic from Jabodetabek during the 2026 Eid exodus to date,” Rivan said.

To handle the surge, traffic engineering measures such as the national one-way system and contraflow were implemented at the discretion of the police.
