A total of 1,280 passengers were affected by the cancellation of 10 flights at Komodo International Airport in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Sunday (6/9/2026). The cancellations were caused by the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait region.

“Based on preliminary data, there are 10 flights to and from Komodo Airport affected by cancellations, particularly on the Labuan Bajo–Jakarta (CGK) route and vice versa, with around 1,280 affected passengers,” said Ceppy Triono, Head of the Komodo Airport Organising Unit Office (UPBU), on Sunday evening (6/9/2026).

Ceppy explained that handling of affected passengers is the responsibility of each airline. According to him, passengers are given the option to reschedule their flights or receive a ticket refund in accordance with each airline’s policy.

“Komodo Airport remains operational and continues to coordinate with airlines, AirNav, BMKG and other relevant stakeholders to monitor developments in airspace conditions and ensure the safety and smooth running of flight services,” said Ceppy.

Ceppy urged prospective passengers to continue monitoring the latest information regarding their flight status through the official channels of their respective airlines. “Flight safety and security remain the top priority,” he concluded.

It is known that all flights cancelled at Komodo International Airport today were round-trip routes between Jakarta and Labuan Bajo. All cancelled flights were operated by five airlines: Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, Batik Air, AirAsia, and Super Air Jet.

Mount Anak Krakatau began erupting on Friday evening (4/9). The spread of volcanic ash continued to expand, reaching Soekarno-Hatta Airport. That airport has been temporarily closed since this morning.
