1,246 Joint Personnel Deployed to Secure Demonstrations in Central Jakarta

Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 1,246 joint personnel have been deployed to secure and escort protest actions organised by several groups at various locations in Central Jakarta on Thursday.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Pol Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, stated that the security measures are part of the police service to maintain safety while respecting the public’s right to express opinions in public.

“We have prepared personnel to ensure that the expression of aspirations proceeds safely and in an orderly manner,” said Reynold in Jakarta on Thursday.

Reynold explained that the deployed personnel consist of members from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Metro Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and local government elements.

He emphasised the importance of a humanist and persuasive approach, prioritising the safety of both the public and personnel on the ground. He instructed all personnel on duty to maintain professionalism, avoid being provoked by field situations, and refrain from carrying firearms or sharp weapons during the security operation.

Reynold also urged protest participants to convey their aspirations orderly and to avoid actions that disrupt public order. Additionally, the police have prepared situational traffic diversions around the protest sites to anticipate vehicle congestion.

The Central Jakarta Metro Police ensured that security would continue until the entire series of actions concludes to maintain a conducive security and public order situation.
