Bandar Lampung — A total of 1,202 residents affected by the flood disaster in Bandar Lampung City have received assistance from the local government in the form of rice and Rp1 million in cash. ‘Total flood-affected residents number 1,202 from four districts most severely impacted: Rajabasa, Tanjung Senang, Sukarame and Sukabumi,’ said the Mayor of Bandar Lampung, Eva Dwiana, in Bandar Lampung on Sunday. She said the aid provided is a rapid government measure to help residents after the flood, and the Bandar Lampung City Government is still awaiting additional reports from district authorities regarding flood data. ‘For now, our aid is focused on residents whose homes were directly affected by the floods. Those affected only in outer areas are still being surveyed. If we find residents who have not been reached, the aid will be redistributed,’ she said. Eva noted that in the flood event on Friday (6 March) there were fatalities, but there were no reports of injuries. A joint team from the local government, the subdistrict officials, and the BPBD helped in field operations. ‘Regarding the floods, we are also continuing to improve the drainage system to reduce flood risk. However, comprehensive handling requires the involvement of the Balai Besar Wilayah Sungai (BBWS), which manages river infrastructure and flood control,’ she said. She also noted that flood problems in Bandar Lampung require cross-regional coordination because water flow comes not only from the city but also from surrounding areas such as Pesawaran and South Lampung. ‘If all parties work together, especially the river authority, God willing the handling can be more effective,’ she added.
