1,200 MSMEs to Participate in Independence Day People's Party at Monas
This year’s People’s Party will feature an MSME Expo, public entertainment and Merdeka Night running throughout the day, with a target of around 600,000 attendees.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 1,200 micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) operators will be involved in the People’s Party for the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence, centred on the National Monument (Monas) area in Jakarta on 17 August 2026.
Secretary of the Ministry of MSMEs Loto Srinaita Ginting said the participating MSMEs had undergone a curation and mentoring process to ensure product quality and readiness to serve the public.
“This year’s People’s Party presents a series of MSME Expo, Public Entertainment and Merdeka Night events running throughout the day, with a target of around 600,000 members of the public taking part,” Loto said in a Ministry of MSMEs statement in Jakarta on Friday.
According to her, the involvement of MSMEs in the independence celebration serves not only as a means of product promotion but also as part of efforts to empower business operators through economic activities that directly engage the public.
Each MSME will provide 500 Nusantara culinary packages valued at Rp30,000 per food portion and Rp15,000 per drink portion. These products will be distributed free of charge to members of the public attending the Monas area.
The culinary distribution will be carried out in two sessions, namely from 11.30am to 3.00pm Western Indonesia Time and from 6.30pm Western Indonesia Time until finished.
Loto said the activity is expected to introduce the diversity of Nusantara cuisine while providing economic benefits for the participating MSME operators.
The activity is a collaboration between the Ministry of MSMEs, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Creative Economy, the Ministry of State Secretariat, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Danantara in coordinating the organisation of the People’s Party.
In addition to the MSME Expo, the People’s Party programme will also be filled with public entertainment, a decorated vehicle carnival and music performances on several stages spread across the Monas area, the HI Roundabout and Sarinah.
The People’s Party programme for the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence will continue into the evening through the Merdeka Night agenda. Immersive performances, video mapping and a drone show will enliven the Monas, Kempinski, Pullman, Plaza Indonesia and HI Roundabout areas.
The performances will showcase the richness of Nusantara traditional textiles, the history of the heroes’ struggle and the government’s priority programmes. The entire programme will then close with a 10-minute fireworks display accompanied by music in the HI Roundabout area.
Loto expressed hope that the activity could serve as a space for MSMEs to introduce their products to the public while strengthening the role of MSMEs in the national economy.
