Makassar — A total of 1,182 applicants are competing for the 125 available slots in the 2026 Patriot Expedition Team (TEP) programme during the selection process at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) Makassar. Abdullah Sanusi, PhD, Director of Student Affairs at Hasanuddin University and the TEP Unhas Person in Charge, expressed his appreciation to all applicants participating in the selection stages on Tuesday.

The selection results for the 2026 Patriot Expedition Team are officially announced by the Ministry of Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia on Tuesday (2/6) at 22:00 WIB. He explained that successful participants will be assigned to several deployment locations under the coordination of Unhas. For TEP 2026, there are six placement locations spread across West Papua, Southeast Sulawesi, and South Sulawesi, namely Weri Saharey, Wakorumba, Anawua, Pitu Riase, and Asinua-Routa.

Records show that 1,182 applicants applied through Unhas. Of this number, 340 individuals (28.8 per cent) are alumni of Hasanuddin University, while 842 individuals (71.2 per cent) hail from various other higher education institutions. This figure demonstrates the high level of interest among the younger generation to participate in service and development programmes for transmigration areas initiated by the Ministry of Transmigration.

The selection process is being conducted in a gradual and competitive manner, with 803 participants proceeding to the self-assessment stage. The assessment is based on eight key aspects: academic qualifications and basic competence; research, service, and mentoring experience; motivation and commitment; service orientation; readiness for placement and field resilience; social and cultural adaptation and community communication; teamwork, leadership, and initiative; and the ability to facilitate and implement programmes along with potential contributions to the programme. These eight aspects are further deepened and verified through interview stages to identify participants possessing the best competence, readiness, and potential contribution for the 2026 Patriot Expedition Programme.
