1,173 High School Students Involved in Entrepreneurship, Achieving Turnover of Rp 483 Million
A total of 1,173 high school and vocational school students across Indonesia, including West Java, have participated in the ‘student company’ entrepreneurship programme. These students established 45 student-led enterprises, engaging directly in building and managing businesses. The participants identified market needs, developed products and brands, designed marketing strategies, and managed finances, while presenting their business ideas to customers and investors.
Through these entrepreneurial activities, the students have achieved a turnover of Rp 483 million. Pribadi Setiyanto, Chairman of Prestasi Junior Indonesia, stated that the student company programme is designed as a learning space for students. It aims to bridge the gap between the education sector, the business world, and professional mentors, providing students with experience in building businesses, developing character, leadership, and an entrepreneurial mindset. The programme culminates in the Prestasi Junior Indonesia Company of the Year Competition (PJI COY) 2026, which showcases the best student companies emerging from this experiential learning process.
“Addressing various challenges around them, students have presented solutions that utilise local materials, circular economy principles, and design-based innovation,” he said on Saturday (1/8/2026).
This spirit is reflected in the nine finalist student companies of the PJI Company of the Year 2026. Notable examples include the processing of banana stalks into bioleather, pineapple leaf fibres into household goods, and the transformation of coconut shells, recycled plastics, and natural materials into value-added products that meet market demands. This initiative is carried out by Prestasi Junior Indonesia (PJI) through the Zurich Entrepreneurship Program (ZEP) and the Starbucks Creative Youth Entrepreneurship Program (SCYEP), with support from Zurich Indonesia, Z Zurich Foundation, Starbucks Indonesia, and The Starbucks Foundation.
