1,166 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives Formed in NTB, 121 Already Operational
The NTB Provincial Cooperative and SME Office (Diskop UKM) claims that 121 Merah Putih Village/Urban Village Cooperatives (KDKMP) in NTB have begun operations. The NTB Provincial Government targets full operations for all KDKMP in NTB by 2027.
The Head of the NTB Cooperative and SME Office, Wirawan Ahmad, stated that out of a total of 1,166 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives already formed in NTB, 121 cooperatives are operational. In fact, some cooperatives have already implemented business models effectively.
“One example is the cooperative in Ampenan Utara Urban Village, Mataram City. That cooperative is already connected by becoming a supplier for the free nutritious meal programme (MBG),” said Wirawan when confirmed on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
Meanwhile, Wirawan added that 19 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives already have outlets. However, according to Wirawan, this is not a benchmark for whether the cooperative is active or not.
“These cooperatives must take the initiative or courage from the management to start their businesses,” he said.
Wirawan stated that the number of Merah Putih Village Cooperatives in NTB already registered with PT Agrinas totals 510 cooperatives. All registered cooperatives are targeted to operate this year.
“This includes those that have resolved land issues and various other matters. That means, some are already completed, in process, and some are just starting. But they are already recorded in the Agrinas system,” he said.
Wirawan is optimistic that all KDKMP already formed in the province can run as targeted by the government. To ensure this, the government will hold a coordination meeting with all regencies/cities on how to formulate business models for all Merah Putih Village Cooperatives that are not yet operational.
On the other hand, 707 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives have held Annual Member Meetings (RAT). This annual meeting aims to determine business directions.
“Those that have held RAT or 60 percent of the national target, by the end of the year 70 percent,” Wirawan emphasised.
