1,151 km of Regional Roads Built to Boost Economic Equality

Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) Muhammad Qodari has stated that the construction of 1,151 kilometres of regional roads across 37 provinces will promote economic equality to the most remote areas. “This development is not only centred in big cities but reaches remote villages that have rarely been touched. We want to ensure social justice and economic equality are truly felt by every citizen,” Qodari said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday. He noted that the regional road construction, inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto last week, represents a concrete government step to open up economic access while improving public welfare. According to him, the development is based on Presidential Instruction Number 11 of 2025 concerning the Acceleration of Regional Road Connectivity to Support Food and Energy Self-Sufficiency. Qodari assessed that the road construction in 37 provinces sends a message that development in the current administration is inclusive and not solely focused on urban areas, but also reaches regions that have long faced access limitations. He said road infrastructure plays a vital role as the lifeblood of the people’s economy by connecting agricultural production centres in villages with consumers. “This development is our solid foundation for achieving food, energy, and water self-sufficiency,” he stated. According to him, the government wants to ensure that no more harvests are ruined due to poor road access, nor the distribution of energy and clean water hampered by broken transport links. “With smooth and connected roads, the flow of food supplies from production centres to the public will be faster and more efficient,” Qodari said. He added that the inauguration of the 1,151 kilometres of regional roads proves that development challenges can be overcome when all elements of the nation unite and move forward together.
