1,151 km of Regional Roads Built to Boost Economic Equality

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Indonesian Government Communications Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, emphasised that the construction of 1,151 kilometres of regional roads spread across 37 provinces is driving economic equality into the most remote areas.

“Development is not only centred in major cities but reaches into remote villages that have long been untouched. We want to ensure that social justice and economic equality are truly felt by every citizen,” Qodari stated in a briefing in Jakarta on Monday.

He noted that the regional road development, which was inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto last week, represents a concrete step by the government to open economic access and improve public welfare.

According to him, this development is based on Presidential Instruction Number 11 of 2025 regarding the Acceleration of Regional Road Connectivity to Support Food and Energy Self-Sufficiency.

He assessed that the road construction across 37 provinces serves as a message that development under the current administration is inclusive, reaching regions that have historically faced limited access rather than being concentrated solely in urban areas.

Qodari stated that road infrastructure plays a vital role as the lifeblood of the people’s economy by connecting agricultural production centres in villages with the public as consumers.

“This development is our solid foundation for welcoming self-sufficiency in food, energy, and water,” he said.

He added that the government aims to ensure that harvests are no longer damaged due to poor road access and that the distribution of energy and clean water is not hindered by disconnected transport routes.

“With smooth and connected roads, the flow of food supplies from production centres to the community will be faster and more efficient,” said Qujuari.

He added that the inauguration of 1,151 kilometres of regional roads serves as proof that various development challenges can be overcome when all elements of the nation unite and move together.
