1.1-ton 'TIW' sacrificial cow causes stir among Condongcatur residents in Sleman
The arrival of a 1.1-ton sacrificial cow from a mysterious donor with initials ‘TIW’ has caused a stir among residents of Padukuhan Gejayan, Condongcatur Village, Sleman Regency, in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, ahead of Eid al-Adha.
Fatahillah Mosque in Padukuhan Gejayan, Condongcatur Village, Depok Subdistrict, Sleman Regency, is located near the residence of national figure Amien Rais.
Muhani, chairman of the Fatahillah Mosque’s management committee in Sleman, confirmed on Friday that the large cow was sent by someone from Jakarta. According to information received, the sacrificial animal was purchased from a breeder in Boyolali, Central Java.
The Simental bull marked with the initials ‘TIW’ was sent by an individual several days before the Eid al-Adha sacrifice at the local Fatahillah Mosque.
‘We were informed that this cow is intended for the Eid al-Adha sacrifice,’ Muhani said.
‘We do not know the sender directly. We are grateful for the sacrificial animal provided to the community,’ he added.
Muhani said the information about the cow’s delivery first came from the local village head. Upon receiving the news, the mosque management quickly prepared logistical and technical needs for the slaughter process.
According to Muhani, the sender’s representative stated that the sacrificial animal was intended in the name of ‘Mr TIW’ for the local community, hoping to benefit the wider public. This year, Fatahillah Mosque managed a total of five cows and 14 goats for sacrifice.
‘All residents received a share, regardless of religion. In RT 01, each household head received approximately two kilograms of meat, for around 150 families,’ said Lilik.
He added that this year’s sacrificial meat supply was abundant, with surplus distributed to areas outside Yogyakarta Special Region, including Kebumen and Magelang regencies in Central Java.
