A total of 1,074 joint police personnel from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Metro Resort Police, and sector police stations have been placed on standby to escort and secure two demonstrations in the Central Jakarta area on Friday. Central Jakarta Metro Resort Police Head of Public Relations, First Police Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, stated that the first protest is being held by a group of Pamulang University students in the Monas area, Gambir. “Security for the demonstration by the UNPAM Student Forum and several elements in the Gambir area is planned for 1:00 p.m. Western Indonesia Time,” Erlyn said in a written statement on Friday. The second demonstration is planned by student elements affiliated with the Islamic Students Association’s South Jakarta branch in front of the DPR/MPR Building in Senayan, Central Jakarta. Traffic diversions at the demonstration sites will be implemented situationally, taking into account the number of participants on the ground. The public is advised to avoid the areas around the demonstrations to anticipate traffic congestion.
