1,019 Primary and Secondary Students in West Jakarta Receive Indonesia Pintar Scholarships

A total of 1,019 students from state and private primary and junior secondary schools in three sub-districts of West Jakarta have received scholarships through the Indonesia Pintar (Smart Indonesia) programme. DPRD DKI Jakarta member Hilda Kusuma Dewi stated that the distribution of this aid must serve as a commitment for the recipients and their parents to take responsibility and maintain enthusiasm for learning. “A proper education is for a better future. Let us make education a collective movement, because it is truly not about who we are, but about being present and striving once again for all of us,” Hilda said when confirmed on Friday. Of the 1,019 student recipients, 979 are from schools in the Cengkareng sub-district, 31 from Kalideres, and nine from Tambora. Primary school students each receive Rp450,000 per semester, while junior secondary school students receive Rp950,000. West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah stated that the assistance represents government support for the future of learners. “This Indonesia Pintar programme aims to help the nation’s children, especially those in West Jakarta, become intelligent and future leaders,” she emphasised. Iin also expressed appreciation to the DPRD for championing the rights of students in her area. “I appreciate Ms Hilda for facilitating this, so West Jakarta has received this opportunity for the second time during my tenure. May all the children achieve their desired goals,” Iin added. The symbolic handover of the PIP assistance was carried out by West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah and DPRD DKI Jakarta Commission A member Hilda Kusuma Dewi at the Cendrawasih Multipurpose Building in West Cengkareng, Cengkareng Sub-district, on Thursday (18/6).
