1,000 Parking Spaces Prepared for National Lunar New Year Peak Celebration at Banteng Field

JAKARTA — The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have prepared approximately 1,000 parking spaces for motorcycles and cars to secure the National Lunar New Year Festival celebration at Banteng Field on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

Kompol Robby Herfados, Head of Operations at the Traffic Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, stated that public access was concentrated at two entry points.

“The capacity is one thousand parking spaces, and public entrances have been prepared at the West Banteng Field and East Banteng Field gates,” Robby told reporters on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a separate VIP parking area for guests has been arranged at Hotel Borobudur.

“VIP parking has been prepared at Hotel Borobudur’s car park,” said Robby.

One of the event series includes a parade of National Lunar New Year participants that will pass through roads surrounding Banteng Field.

“It will start from the front of the Cathedral and head towards Adipura Monument, then turn right towards the Ministry Building to continue to the Indonesian Post office,” said Robby.

“We from the Traffic Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police have prepared security with approximately 150 personnel, and personnel from regional units totalling approximately 600 personnel,” he said.

Road closures were described as situational in nature and would likely only be implemented during the parade procession.

Traffic personnel will be deployed at several points to help ease congestion after the parade concludes.
