PT Prudential Sharia Life Assurance (Prudential Syariah) and Al-Azhar Islamic Pesantren Foundation distributed 1,000 food parcels for breaking fast, provisions, and prayer equipment to the community of female motorcycle taxi drivers (Lady Ojol) as part of the Festival 1000 Blessing during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.

The event, which ran from 19 February to 14 March 2026 in the area of the Grand Al-Azhar Mosque in South Jakarta, was attended by approximately 30,000 visitors from the Greater Jakarta region. The festival featured various programmes, ranging from Islamic financial literacy, health education, business consultation, to financial planning based on Sharia principles combined with Islamic studies.

The distribution of assistance was carried out through a sustainability corner programme, a facility for collecting plastic waste from visitors. The collected waste was then converted into donations in the form of food parcels, provisions, and prayer equipment for people in need, including Lady Ojol.

Chief Customer Marketing Officer at Prudential Syariah, Vivin Arbianti Gautama, stated that the programme aimed to encourage the public to protect the environment whilst sharing with others.

“Throughout the nearly three-week run of Festival 1000 Blessing, we provided a sustainability corner to collect plastic packaging in the Al-Azhar Mosque area. In addition to keeping the environment clean, this packaging will be exchanged for breakfasting food, provision parcels, and a complete set of prayer equipment for Lady Ojol,” said Vivin in a written statement on Tuesday (17 March).

She added that this social action also represents a form of appreciation for female motorcycle taxi drivers who play an important role in supporting family economies. “This social action is also a form of appreciation for women, specifically Lady Ojol, who have an important role in the family,” she said.

Beyond the social activities, the festival also encouraged community economic empowerment through the involvement of 40 local micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) food entrepreneurs. Prudential Syariah provided support in the form of a 30 per cent subsidy on booth rental costs to help business operators expand their market reach.

Through this initiative, Prudential Syariah and Al-Azhar Islamic Pesantren Foundation hope to continue promoting Islamic financial literacy and inclusion, whilst strengthening environmental awareness and delivering sustainable social impact for the community.
