JP/Car industry is recovering, but still has long drive ahead

By all accounts, Indonesia's car industry has recovered from the crash triggered by the second fuel hike of September 2005. GAIKINDO, the national automotive manufacturers association, reported 41,470 units sold in August. If sales continue at that level, the recovery will seemingly be complete.

JP/Telecom rules need to be updated, say experts

Thanks to the performance of its mobile telecoms subsidiary Telkomsel, state-owned PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia was recently named as one of Forbes' Asia Fabulous 50 companies for the first time this year.Telkom, however, is not alone. Most of the players in the industry enjoy hefty profits.
