Indonesian Film Industry Association Opposes Plan to Open Investment to Foreign Players
A film industry body has come out against the government’s plan to open up the sector to foreign investment, saying liberalization would undermine the interests of local players. The film sector is one of several reportedly being opened up to foreign investment through the government’s revision of the “negative investment list.” According to media reports, the government will allow foreigners to own up to 49 percent of Indonesian film companies when the revision of the list is finalized.

Indonesia's Sweet Decades
Foreign investors are usually either over-optimistic or wildly pessimistic about Indonesia. Before 1997 they were piling in without a qualm. Then in the wake of the Asian crisis they convinced themselves that it was close to being a failed state. Now they are enthusing again, if not quite like the 1990s but still buoyed by stable democratic government, well-managed finances and the assumption that Chinese growth will underwrite its commodity export prices for years to come.

Bali Demands a Share of the Lucrative Revenues Generated from Visas on Arrival
(4/3/2010) Beritabali.com says that the provincial government of Bali is demanding a share of the income the national government collects through the sale of visa-on-arrivals purchased at the island's Ngurah Rai International Airport. At present all funds collected for visas are remitted to Jakarta.

Indonesia, China agree to strengthen partnership
Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and China agreed on steps to strengthen the strategic partnership agreement the two countries signed in April 2005. Indonesia`s minister of trade Mari Elka Pangestu and her Chinese counterpart Chen Deming signed "Agreed Minutes of The Meeting for Further Strengthening Economic and Trade Cooperation" at the 10th Indonesia-China Joint Commission Meeting here on Saturday.

Indonesia, China to implement ACFTA as scheduled
Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and China have agreed to implement the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) as scheduled and not to postpone its application to 228 tariff posts as requested by Indonesian entrepreneurs. "I think we will both apply ACFTA as scheduled," Chinese Trade Minister Chen Deming said here on Saturday at a press conference after the 10th Indonesia-China Joint Commission meeting in Yogyakarta.

Four investors ready to enter Aceh
Banda Aceh (ANTARA News) - Four investors have been confirmed to invest in Aceh in 2010, according to the head of Aceh Promotion and Investment Agency, Anwar Muhammad, here on Saturday. "Two of the four investors are from abroad and they will cooperate with local companies and start investing in 2010," he said. A company from China, he said, would start investing in the field of fishery namely fishing in the Aceh Besar and Sabang waters.

Yogyakarta`s exports to China increasing
Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - Yogyakarta`s exports to China and other countries grouped in the free trade area agreement have been increasing from year to year, a regional trade official said. "In the last several years, Yoyakarta`s exports to countries which had joined the free trade area agreement with Indonesia continued to increase," Head of Foreign Trade Relations of the Yogyakarta Trade and Industry Office, Riyadi Ida Bagus said here over the weekend.
