China coal imports to double in 2015, India close behind

NUSA DUA, Indonesia (Reuters) - Top coal consumer China should see import demand more than double in the next four years and India will be close behind as both hoover up supplies on international markets to feed rapidly growing power industries, industry executives said on Monday. China's thermal coal imports could rise to 200 million tonnes in 2015 from around 90 million tonnes in 2011, Neil Dhar, executive vice president of trading house Noble Group, told the Coaltrans Asia conference.

BP pledges to boost investment by 10 bln USD in Indonesia

S Sumatra earns $491 Mln from on-oil/gas exports

Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - South Sumatra`s non-oil/non-gas exports in January 2011 rose to US$491.324 million from US$449.200 million a month earlier on rising global commodity prices. The increase was inseparable from rising prices of the province`s key commodities including crude palm oil (CPO) and its derivative products in the global market, Head of the Plantation Product Management and Marketing at the South Sumatra Provincial Plantation Office Minarsih said on Sunday.

Chinese company to invest in plantations

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A Chinese company, PT Guandong Agribusiness, will invest in plantations in transmigration areas in Indonesia to create jobs for up to 28,000 workers. Indonesian manpower and transmigration minister Muhaimin Iskandar witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding for it in Guangzhou, China, on Saturday, along with the Guandong governor representing the Chinese government.
