Province-Owned Company to Export Seaweed to China

TEMPO Interactive, Makassar:The South Sulawesi Provincial Enterprise (Perusda) will establish a new working unit focused on collecting seaweed production for export. The first export will be launched in June, consisting of 100 tons of seaweed to China. “China needs an unlimited amount of seaweed. Yet, all this time Persuda has only been acting as a trader,” said Perusda CEO, Haris Houdy, yesterday. He said Perusda will buy all seaweed products from farmers along the South Sulawesi coast.

ASEAN Officials Discuss Development of Tuna Industry

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:For the first time, a number of ASEAN countries will decide on strategic steps to develop the tuna industry. “We will formulate a program covering important aspects of fishery in the international market,” said Victor Nikijuluw , Director General of Fishery Processing and Marketing at the Maritime Affairs and Fishery Ministry.

Obama to attend East Asia Summit in Bali

Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - US President Barack Obama is set to take part in the East Asia Summit Plus 2011 scheduled for November in the resort island of Bali, Governor Made Mangku Pastika said. "US President Obama has pledged to attend the meeting of East Asian leaders to be held in November," Pastika said here on Thursday. Pastika said Obama confirmed a plan to participate in the summit through the US ambassador and consul general when they met him at his office here on Wednesday.

BKPM: Investment in Indonesia rising
