RI needs quality growth
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia needs quality economic growth capable of benefiting people in the low-income brackets, a banker said. Nearly 87 percent of 40 million self-reliant entrepreneurs in Indonesia`s micro and small businesses still had no access to banking services, Bank Andara chief business development officer Don Johnson said at a function marking the 2nd anniversary of the bank here on Thursday.

RI's geothermal sector still wide open for investment
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia has huge potentials for investment in the geothermal energy development sector as until now investment in the sector still totals three percent, an official said. "The potentials for investment in the geothermal sector is huge but not all of them have have tapped maximally," Head of the Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Gita Wirjawan said here on Thursday.

Logging, mining cost Indonesia $36 bn: official
JAKARTA - Land clearance by hundreds of mine and plantation companies operating illegally on Indonesia's Borneo island has cost the country $36 billion, an official said Thursday. "Encroachment of forest areas for illegal mining and plantation activities including logging in Kalimantan has caused losses of around Rp 311 trillion ($36.4 billion)," Forestry Ministry information centre head Masyhud told AFP.

Wen’s Deals Expected to Boost Industry, Infrastructure
China Investment Corp. plans to offer $4 billion in loans for Indonesian infrastructure, part of a package of deals Jakarta is hoping for during a visit this week by Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, officials here said on Thursday. The plans by the $300 billion wealth fund are likely to be announced during a two-day visit to Indonesia by Wen, who arrived in Jakarta late on Thursday, in an effort to boost bilateral trade and gain access to the archipelago’s resources.

China Must Reduce Palm Oil Import Duties, Gapki Says
China must cut its import duties for palm oil to help boost Indonesian exports that are little changed at 2 million tons this year, an industry association said on Thursday. China is the world’s top palm oil importer, and analysts say consumption in the world’s second-largest economy will rise about 10 percent this year to 7.3 million tonnes.

Business ‘Vital’ in Climate Change Fight: SBY
Indonesia sits at the epicenter of global climate change and as such is central to the solutions that will determine the future, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said on Thursday. In his keynote address on the opening day of the Business for the Environment (B4E) Global Summit 2011 in Jakarta, Yudhoyono challenged participants to come up with solutions that could propel the country and the global community toward a green economy. “Indonesia is a hot spot for climate diplomacy,” he said.
