Indonesia and Turkey Beat Investors’ Expectations by Outperforming BRICs

Jakarta. Indonesia and Turkey are outpacing the biggest emerging markets by almost any financial measure, even while they may be too small to join the BRICs. Indonesia’s equity index has climbed 21 percent this year and Turkey’s rose 13 percent, both hitting all-time highs on July 29. Credit-market rallies sent yields on the nations’ foreign-currency debt to the lowest levels on record, JPMorgan Chase’s EMBI Global gauges show.

Hotel Business in Yogyakarta is Promising

TEMPO Interactive, Yogyakarta:Hotel business in Yogyakarta continues to grow. Every holiday season, many tourists cannot find hotel accommodations. “The business is promising,” said the Yogyakarta branch of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurants Association secretary, Deddy Pranowo Eryono, during the soft opening of the Whiz Hotel yesterday. At present, there are 36 star-rated hotels and 230 motels in Yogyakarta. There are over 500 hotels and inns that are not part of the association.

Bali`s hotel occupancy rate up 4.17 pct

Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - The average occupancy rate of hotels in Bali in June was 64.56 percent, or an increase of 4.17 percent compared with that in the previous month which was 60.39 percent, a statistics official said. "Hotels occupancy rate increased because the number of domestic and foreign tourist arrivals also increased by 12.12 percent," Head of the Bali branch of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Ida Komang Wisnu said here on Monday.

Bali`s imports reach US$136.91 million

Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - The value of Bali`s imports in the second quarter of 2010 increased 242.34 percent to US$136.91 million from US$39.99 million in the same period a year earlier, a statistics official said. "The imports in the second quarter also increased 207.35 percent from US$44.54 million compared with those in the first quarter of this year," Head of the Central Board of Statistics (BPS) for Bali office, Ida Komang Wisnu said here on Monday.
