Small-Scale Artisans Face Hurdles in Copyrighting Their Designs
While the Trade Ministry has been encouraging Indonesian exporters to add value to their goods, some handicraft producers are complaining about the difficulty in getting copyright protection for their designs. “I don’t have any copyright for my products,” said Mimin, a 35-year-old artisan from Yogyakarta, who was exhibiting her wares at a shoes and leather exhibition at the Jakarta Convention centre on Friday. Mimin said her creative designs allowed her to command better prices.

Strongest Growth in a Year for Indonesia Expected as Recovery Momentum Builds
Indonesia’s economy probably expanded at the fastest pace in more than a year last quarter as record-low interest rates boosted consumer spending and exports and investment recovered. Gross domestic product grew 5.79 percent in the three months to March 31 from a year earlier, compared with 5.4 percent in the previous quarter, according to the median forecast of 20 economists in a Bloomberg News survey. That would be the fastest pace since September 2008.

Government Introduce New Transparency Law on Mining
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The government announced that it has introduced a new regulation on transparency of state revenue from extraction industry to regulate revenue reports off all parties involved in mining idustry from the regional authorities to state mining firms.
