Indonesia: Confident economy

While many European countries are struggling to avoid slipping back into recession, being dragged down by the deepening debt crisis engulfing the eurozone, one of the main problems facing the Indonesian economy appears to be how to avoid growing too far, too fast. Much of the heat in the economy is coming from the home front, with rising consumer demand and private sector investments adding fuel to the fire.

Indonesian energy-economy potentials, challenges

Indonesia is endowed with considerable energy resources, both fossils and renewable. With our resource wealth, strategically located close to East Asian industrial nations and openness to international trade, we have seen over the last three to four decades that Indonesia a world class exporter of oil, gas and coal. The exports of energy have contributed to our country’s export earnings largely as well as to the government as a source of revenue.

Singapore-Malaysia industrial estate affects Batam trade zone

Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands (ANTARA News) - The industrial cooperation between Malaysia and Singapore could disadvantage the Batam, Bintan, Karimun Free Trade Zone (FTZ), a noted businessman said. "The development of the Johor Bahru Iskandar Muda industrial zone by Singapore`s Temasek and Malayasia`s Khazanah would adversely affect Riau Islands free trade zone," Honorary Council Chairman of the Indonesian Businessmen Association (Apindo) for Riau Islands, Rudy Chua, said here on Sunday.
