Total Direct Investment in Indonesia Up 10% in First Quarter
The country’s investment czar said on Tuesday that realized foreign and domestic direct investment in the first quarter was expected to grow by 10 percent year on year as investors become increasingly confident about the nation’s economic prospects. Gita Wirjawan, chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), declined to provide specific figures, saying the final numbers would be released before the end of April.

Indonesia tax scandal puts spotlight on corruption
Jakarta - A scandal involving an Indonesian tax official accused of amassing millions of dollars in his bank accounts has put a spotlight on corruption in the country's bureaucracy. Indonesia embarked on sweeping reforms after the fall in 1998 of autocratic president Suharto, whose 32-year rule was marked by widespread corruption, but critics said the country's bureaucracy remains blighted with graft.

Kadin: Offer China Investment Facility in Energy Sector
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Kadin) is proposing that the government offer China an investment facility in the energy and mineral sector. “For example a facility on investment management permits,” said Ali Herman Ibrahim, Head of Kadin Energy Development Permanent Committee, in his office, Monday (5/4). Up until now, Ali said, China has taken a great amount of Indonesia energy and mineral resources.

Indonesia, China to provide US$800 million for infrastructure
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian and Chinese governments will provide US$800 million to finance four toll road and bridge building projects in Indonesia by the middle of this year, a minister said. "We have a commitment with China to implement the four projects with a `tied loan` of US$800 million," Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto said after attending a coordination meeting at the office of the coordinating minister for economic affairs here on Tuesday.
